Monster Hunter Stories 3 Flies Into March 2026, Leaves Navirou Behind

Capcom has finally set a date for its next big turn-based hunt. Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection launches March 13, 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. As its latest trailer shows, the company is promising the most ambitious Monster Hunter RPG yet.

Despite the colorful visual, the second trailer starts with a moody, cryptic prophecy. It warns that twin Rathalos are a portent of disaster, and ‘only one may live.’ It also teased the enigmatic Lady Amara and her group: Rangers, legendary monster protectors. Following the previous games’ plot points, monsters are getting a new terrifying makeover called ‘Feral.’ This state shows even docile insectivorous like Chatacabra sprouting jagged crystal growths and turning wild.

In terms of gameplay, Monster Hunter Stories 3’s second trailer confirms the addition of the Long Sword, bringing the weapon count to at least seven. Stories 2 only offered a six-weapon lineup: Great Sword, Hammer, Sword and Shield, Hunting Horn, Bow, and Gunlance. The game comes with a quick swap for your Monsties as well. You can quickly switch between gliding on a Tobi-Kadachi into flying on a Rathalos with a press of a button, for example.

But that’s not all the surprise from the trailer Monster Hunter Stories 3, as Navirou has been kicked out of the partner seat. The rotund, donut-and-pun-loving Felyne mascot was a constant companion in the first two games, but never quite clawed his way into fans’ hearts. Many players seem to have found his voice and constant quips more grating than charming — and Capcom might’ve taken notice.

But even without Navirou, you won’t be riding alone in Monster Hunter Stories 3. This time around, a new, still-unnamed Palico sidekick takes over as your Rider’s partner. This Felyne comes off as a bit of an amateur, yet eager to tag along with the Prince Rider on their new adventure. Capcom hasn’t confirmed if Navirou is gone for good though, so there’s always a chance he’ll sneak in for a cameo and terrible pun later.

For those traveling to Japan, you might want to go to Tokyo Game Show 2025 as Monster Hunter Stories 3 will be playable at the Capcom booth. You’ll be able to dive into the game’s opening chapter and get a first taste of its new Feral monsters and Long Sword combat. Whether you’re a veteran Rider or just starting your first hunt, it’s the perfect chance to saddle up early before the hunt begins in March 2026.
