Where To Find Nu Yaya in Monster Hunter Wilds

Collecting Endemic Life is one of many activities Hunters can participate in aside from taking down large enemies. However, some of these small wildlife can be pretty hard to locate, such as the rare Nu Yaya. As you can guess from its name, these are special larva of a Nu Udra. They can be seen floating around in huge numbers in an area in the Basin during specific times. Here’s how you can find and catch Nu Yaya easily in Monster Hunter Wilds.

The larva of a Nu Udra. Though a fully grown Nu Udra hadn’t been seen in a long time, there have been glimpses of this larval form. Not much is known about their breeding cycle, but it seems many eggs will hatch at once, meaning groups of the creature are not uncommon. The distinctive pattern on their heads appears to hide an underdeveloped eyeball and seems to grow into better support of the eye.

Nu Yaya can only be found during the Plenty season in Oilwell Basin’s Area 17, also known as Nu Udra’s nest. It doesn’t matter what the time of day is, but they usually only appear during a specific condition. After a Nu Udra has laid its eggs, to be precise. Here’s how to force them to spawn in case you cannot find any Nu Yaya in Area 17:

  1. Check the World Map to see if a Tempered Nu Udra appears in the Oilwell Basin during the Firespring Inclemency season.
    • You can check the Environment Overview Forecast to see if one could appear in the next 60 minutes.
    • It needs to be a Tempered Nu Udra; normal ones doesn’t lay eggs during Firespring.
  2. If the Tempered Nu Udra has finally spawned, head over to Area 17.
  3. You should see Nu Udra’s eggs covering the cavern’s ceiling, and Alma comments, “Amazing… Are these… Nu Udra’s eggs?”.
  4. Change the weather to Plenty through the Resting option using a Portable BBQ Pit or going into a Camp. Don’t worry, even if the Tempered Nu Udra disappears and the monsters’ lineup changes after you switch to Plenty.
  5. Now, head back to Area 17, and the Nu Yayas should have hatched from their eggs. You can then capture them using the Capture Net.
