Capcom Wants Monster Hunter Wilds to Surpass World’s Sales Amid Expansion Announcement and Demo Launch

As we all know, the big monster in the room to this day continues to be Monster Hunter Wilds. Out of all modern games in the Monster Hunter franchise, this one is among the most polarizing, with fans either loving it or a few others not liking it at all. Yet, the public opinion around it has improved, as recent updates, price reductions, and a public demo have done some heavy lifting. And now, despite all the issues with this latest entry, it seems Capcom isn’t giving up yet, as it recently said that it wants Monster Hunter Wilds to surpass World.

Capcom’s New Goal is To Make Monster Hunter Wilds Outsell World

Capcom told investors their goal is for Monster Hunter Wilds to outsell Monster Hunter Worlds:

"Ongoing enhancements to the technical performance of Monster Hunter Wilds have led to sales for the game improving. We have also seen a response to the announcement of the upcoming… pic.twitter.com/dJYOO0DsIW

The recent financial report from Capcom, which you can check right here, mentioned several things, one of the most important being how the company wants Monster Hunter Wilds to outsell World. Now, anyone who’s played both games and has seen the impact of World might think this is a far-fetched idea. However, recent changes in Wilds, as well as some new announcements, could make this new installment take the crown away from the most beloved game in the franchise.

As you all know, the many Free Updates and performance fixes that Capcom launched for Wilds have been huge improvements for the game. This installment actually saw a player count spike in many instances, and all thanks to all the new additions. On top of that, we all know that Ascension, the long-awaited expansion for Wilds, is on the way. And if that wasn’t enough, Capcom has already decreased the price for Wilds and even launched a prologue demo for those who have yet to try this new experience.

All of these signs point to Capcom looking for ways to drive more customers to Monster Hunter Wilds, which is expected with any new game in a franchise. Still, some players are skeptical, as Capcom’s new endeavor isn’t an easy one.

Not long ago, the company announced that Monster Hunter: World had surpassed 30 million copies sold. That is a huge bar for Wilds to pass, and a record that may take too long to break. On the other hand, we know Monster Hunter expansions tend to drive players in droves, as was the case with Sunbreak for Rise.

For now, we will all have to wait and see just how great Ascension is, and if it fixes some of the lingering issues that the game has.
