It is wild (no pun intended) to see that Monster Hunter Wilds has reached its one-year milestone. It even feels as if it were yesterday when we were diving into the Forbidden Lands for the first time to get our hunting on. Even if the game had a rocky launch, especially on PC, Capcom has gone above and beyond to address many issues, delivering one of the best and most addictive games in the series. To commemorate this anniversary, Monster Hunter Wilds is bringing several events, new challenging quests, and has confirmed that an expansion is on the way.
The 1st Anniversary of Monster Hunter Wilds Kicks off On February 18
In case you missed it, Capcom posted a video quickly showcasing some of the things coming as part of the 1st anniversary of Monster Hunter Wilds. Ryozo Tsujimoto, the series producer, was at the helm of the announcement, as he thanked all players for their support and also unveiled what’s coming with this celebration, as well as the bright future for this latest installment.
For starters, there’s an update coming on February 18, 2026, which will add several quests to the game, most of them of 10-star difficulty, with the big one adding Arch-Tempered Arkveld. Should hunters defeat it, they’ll obtain materials for a new Gamma set and also unlock further quests of the same difficulty, featuring other Apex predators. However, the big challenge will be the Hunt-a-thon quest featuring several monsters that you must defeat at the same time.
For the not-so-hardcore hunters, the Festival of Accord events will return on a weekly rotation, and all hunters will also get special log-in bonuses. There’s even an event that will let players obtain the Gala Suit for themselves and the Felyne Star outfit for their Palico.
If that wasn’t enough, the anniversary festivities of Monster Hunter Wilds also bring another crossover, this time with the upcoming Monster Hunter Stories 3. You can expect a new quest involving egg-gathering while accompanied by Rudy, the faithful royal Palico of the Rangers.
To wrap it all up, Tsujimoto also confirmed that a large-scale expansion is in the works, with a similar scope to Iceborne and Sunbreak, and we’ll likely see the official announcement sometime during the summer. So, now’s the perfect time to start preparing for the next big adventure or to dust off your hunter skills with any of the new challenging fights. Regardless of what you choose to do, there’s still a lot to see in the Forbidden Lands.
