Best Way to Farm Armor Sphere in Monster Hunter Wilds for Armor Transcending

Upgrading armor doesn’t feel urgent early on. But once Armor Transcending enters the picture, Armor Spheres suddenly become one of the most valuable resources in the game. As it doesn’t just increase Defense values, but also upgrades the Decoration slots for Rarity 5 and 6 gears. While simply playing normally will stockpile some over time, that passive approach quickly falls apart. If you want to upgrade efficiently instead of grinding blindly, there are far better ways to farm Armor Spheres in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Yes, you’ll earn Armor Spheres just by playing Monster Hunter Wilds. But if you want consistent Heavy and Hard Armor Spheres per hour, Event Quests are the most reliable answer. These two Event Quests stand out for their time-to-reward ratio:

“Wreaking Havoc in Wyveria” – Tempered Guardian Fulgur Anjanath:

  • Clear Time: 5–7 minutes.
  • Why it’s good: Guardian Fulgur Anjanath is easy to trip, predictable, and melts quickly with decent builds.
  • Armor Sphere rewards: Hard Armor Spheres x6-8.
  • Armor Spheres / Hour: Around 70 Hard Armor Spheres.

“Endless Sky, Endless Sea” – Lagiacrus and Tempered Rathalos

  • Clear Time: 8-10 minutes
  • Why it’s good: It’s an Arena quest. No need for tracking, map traversal; no downtime.
  • Armor Sphere Rewards: Heavy Armor Spheres x3, Hard Armor Spheres x3-5.
  • Armor Spheres / Hour:
    • Heavy Armor Spheres: Around 21 Heavy Armor Spheres/hour
    • Hard Armor Spheres: Around 28 Hard Armor Spheres/hour

However, keep in mind that Food Skills do not increase the amount of Armor Sphere rewards you get. Lucky Vouchers, though, will give you an additional four reward slots, adding bonus Armor Spheres and/or Hunter Symbols.

Do Other Quests in Monster Hunter Wilds Yield Armor Sphere?

Yes. Most 8-9★ Investigations, Optional, and Event Quests can give you Hard and Heavy Armor Spheres. With 8★ for Hards and 9★ quests for Heavies. However, the time investment can be significantly worse — depending on how good you and your teammates are.

For example, we did a couple of Investigation runs as comparisons. A 9★ Investigation Tempered Nu Udra would take us 13–14 minutes, handing out 7-9 Hard Armor Spheres and 1–2 Heavy Armor Spheres. An 8★ Investigation Tempered Arkveld is even worse, taking around 10 minutes while only giving out 1–3 Hard Armor Spheres.

That’s only 35 Hard and 6-7 Heavy per hour for Nu Udra and 12 Hard Armor Spheres per hour for Arkveld! That means Nu Udra gives half the Hard Spheres per hour compared to Fulgur Anjanath, Arkveld is barely worth considering, and the Heavies output is severely limited.

Compared to the Event Quests above, these are simply inefficient unless the Events aren’t available and you’re hunting them for other reasons.

Turn Excess Materials into More Armor Spheres

Afterward, don’t forget to trade excess materials to Roqul in Azuz to meld more Armor Spheres. No doubt you will have dozens of leftover Guardian Anjanath, Rathalos, and Lagiacrus materials after farming them.

Armor Sphere Point Values

  • Heavy Armor Sphere: 5,000pts.
  • Hard Armor Sphere: 1,000pts.

Lagiacrus Materials

  • Shockspike: 120pts.
  • Horn+: 120pts.
  • Tail: 120pts.
  • Scale+: 110pts.
  • Hide+: 110pts.
  • Claw+: 110pts.
  • Certificate S: 110pts.

Rathalos Materials

  • Wing: 100pts.
  • Tail: 100pts.
  • Scale+: 90pts.
  • Carapace: 90pts.
  • Certificate S: 90pts.

Guardian Fulgur Anjanath Materials

  • Nosebone+: 100pts.
  • Tail: 100pts.
  • Blood: 100pts.
  • Fang+: 90pts.
  • Certificate S: 90pts.

Miscellaneous

  • Hunter Symbol III: 100pts.

If you’ve been farming Omega for the last few months, don’t forget to turn scraps like Screws, Springs, and Pedals for points. No doubt you’ve had hundreds of them, and each gives 130pts. Arkveld’s materials, too, are pretty useful, as they can be worth 120pts each.

Base Armor Upgrade requirement:

  • Rarity 5:
    • Hard: 28.
    • Heavy: 6.
  • Rarity 6:
    • Hard: 53.
    • Heavy: 11.
  • Rarity 7:
    • Hard: 71.
    • Heavy: 15.
  • Rarity 8:
    • Hard: 75.
    • Heavy: 15.

Transcended Armor requirement:

  • Rarity 5:
    • Hard: 44.
    • Heavy: 9.
  • Rarity 6:
    • Hard: 83.
    • Heavy: 17.
  • Rarity 7:
    • Hard: 121.
    • Heavy: 25.
  • Rarity 8:
    • Hard: 115.
    • Heavy: 23.

At the end of the day, farming Armor Spheres in Monster Hunter Wilds is less about difficulty and more about efficiency. Run Events when they’re available and convert excess materials in Azuz instead of hoarding them. Do that, and Armor Spheres should stop being a bottleneck for maxxing out your gear.
