How To Find Clean Water in Grounded 2

Some may argue that Larvae, Orb Weavers, and Mosquitoes are the worst enemies in Grounded 2, but in truth, dehydration is the silent killer that will eventually get all players. In this new adventure, the teenagers need to find yet another way to keep themselves fed and hydrated, and for the latter, you can only do it by finding clean drinkable water in Grounded 2. Here we have a few tips on how to find it and how to manage it in your base, so you always have a drink at hand.

Grounded 2 features many ways to hydrate your character, but the best option is by looking for a Dew Drop, Nectar, or Soda Drop, at least at the beginning. The most common ones are Dew Drops, which you can find at the top of grass plants. To locate them, and this might sound way too obvious, just look up. Certain grass plants will have a Dew Drop at the top, which you can knock down to then drink. Here’s how you can knock it down:

  • Throw a Pebble at it.
  • Throw your Spear at it.
  • Hit the grass plant with your Omni-Axe.

We usually go for the latter, as there’s no risk of losing your Spear or wasting Pebbles. However, you need to pay attention because the Dew Drop will roll away once it falls, so always try to follow it after you knock it down. Once it’s on the ground, just approach it to drink it; it will restore some of your thirst levels.

If you are having a hard time finding Dew Drops, you can always sleep on your Lean-To or your base, and new Dew Drops will spawn in the morning. The locations seem to be random right now, so you’ll still have to do a lot of exploring.

Alternatively, you can locate some empty Soda Cans around the park, which will hold a few Soda Drops inside. These also restore your thirst levels, but are a bit more difficult to find, especially since Soda Cans tend to have a few Buggies around them.

What Happens If You Drink Nasty Water?

In case of emergency, you could always approach a pond and drink Nasty Water, but it isn’t the best solution. If you drink Nasty Water, you’ll get the Sick effect. At first, it won’t do much, but if you continue gaining stacks of this effect, your character’s hunger meter will go down much faster. You could counter this by cooking a lot of food and eating it, but you’ll be wasting precious resources. For that reason, it is always better to look for Dew Drops. On medium difficulty, two Dew Drops should fill up your thirst bar, and that should last for a whole in-game day.

Ways to Collect Water

Let’s say you find some Dew Drops around, but your thirst meter is full. Well, there are several ways to save those Dew Drops for the next day, so they don’t go to waste. If you’ve unlocked the ideas, you can craft specific items that will keep the water in your base for later use. Here are the items you should watch out for:

  • Canteen (Grub Hide x3, Crude Rope x2)
  • Dew Collector (Crude Rope x5, Weed Stem x6, Pebblet x8, Silk Rope x5)
  • Water Container (Acorn Shell x3, Crude Rope x2, Clover Leaf x1)

Initially, the Canteen is the best item you can bring, as it will let you have some water at hand. Then, you should focus on crafting the other two items for your base so you can have a steady supply of drinkable water. Also, if you’re struggling to find some materials, you can use our resource guide here.

Decreasing Your Hunger/Thirst Gain

Lastly, there is a way to make your hunger and thirst gain decrease more slowly. At medium difficulty, you usually have to eat and drink twice in an in-game day. You can reduce this by finding Milk Molars and using them on the Hunger/Thirst Drain option. Every Milk Molar you use will prevent you from getting hungry and thirsty fast, which is great if you’re out there exploring and don’t have food or water at hand.
