Monster Hunter Wilds is off to a roaring start, as Capcom announced that it has surpassed 10 million units sold since its launch on February 28, 2025. This makes Wilds the fastest-selling Monster Hunter game ever, and it even sets a new sales record for the company. Previously, Monster Hunter World broke the company’s record by shipping 5 million units in its launch weekend. Later, it surpassed 10 million shipments in eight months, by September 2018.

Wilds is the first entry in the action hunting game series that takes players to a living, breathing ecosystem where the environment changes dynamically. In one moment, hunters are facing gigantic beasts in a harsh sandstorm, and the next, it transforms into rich and sunlit plains.

This is also the second Monster Hunter game to feature Capcom’s RE Engine after Rise and the Sunbreak expansion. Allowing it to deliver stunning landscapes and ferocious monsters like never before, in spite of some technical hiccups. In addition, the introduction of the new Focus Mode mechanic brought new layers into seamless combat options.

Capcom also highlighted the debut of full crossplay in the series. Thanks to it, Monster Hunter fans across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC can now hunt together for the first time. These new features, combined with the series’ core gameplay, have become the main key of Monster Hunter Wilds‘s 10 million unit sales success.

Nevertheless, Capcom isn’t stopping here; the company will deliver its first free major Title Update on April 4. This Title Update 1 will bring a fan-favorite monster, Mizutsune, and The Grand Hub social hub where Hunters can interact with each other through minigames. A second major Title Update is already planned for the summer, promising the long-awaited Lagiacrus’ return and even more content.

With the Monster Hunter franchise sales surpassing 108 million units as of December 2024, Wilds has proven that the series is growing fast. Backed by continued updates and a stronger fanbase than ever, the hunt is only just beginning.
