Monster Hunter Wilds Map Seems To Be Hinting at Dalamadur, or an Even Bigger Serpentine Monster

Exploring maps in this series is always an adventure, whether you’re stumbling upon hidden tunnels, rare Endemic Life, or just finding a vantage point with a great view. This time, Monster Hunter Wilds might be hinting at something very big with a massive serpentine skeleton buried in the terrain. Could this be the return of Dalamadur, or are we looking at something even bigger?

The map in question is Wounded Hollow, the arena-like map unlocked during High Rank. It seems like your usual large-scale hunting ground — until you take a closer look. If you head past the separator gate and turn toward the southwest cliffs, you’ll notice something big peeking out of the rocks. Even more intriguing, the entire map is littered with enormous serpentine bones, suggesting a creature far bigger than any standard monster.

Naturally, longtime Monster Hunter fans immediately thought of Dalamadur, the colossal snake-like Elder Dragon that so far only appeared in Monster Hunter 4. Nevertheless, this wouldn’t be the first time Capcom has teased its existence. Monster Hunter World’s Rotten Vale featured giant skeletons and even meteor fragments that were strongly linked to Dalamadur.

According to the Monster Hunter: World – Official Complete Works artbook via GaijinHunter, there are three possibilities behind the gigantic bones left all over Rotten Vale. First, it might be a Dalamadur that grew too large and came to the New World during Elder Crossing and died there. The place might also be filled to the brim by ‘several Dalamadur’ on top of one another. Lastly, it might indicate that it’s another monster that is ‘closely related’ to Dalamadur but much larger.

But here’s where things get interesting. The skeleton in Wounded Hollow is missing Dalamadur’s signature ridges, and its jaw shape doesn’t quite match. Could this mean we’re looking at a different massive serpent entirely?

Another theory gaining traction is that this could be a reference to Laviente, the enormous snake-like monster from the Monster Hunter Frontier MMO spin-off. Laviente is even bigger than Dalamadur, measuring 450 meters long and requiring a 16-player raid hunt to take it down! Meanwhile, according to official lore, Dalamadur falls just short at 440 meters.

Since Capcom recently brought Frontier monsters into the mainline series, like Espinas in Sunbreak, it wouldn’t be too surprising if Laviente finally made its debut.

For now, Capcom is keeping quiet, but this Monster Hunter Wilds Dalamadur easter egg is definitely hinting at something absolutely massive lurking in its world. Especially since Wilds’ logo seems to refer to snake-like creatures, and only Jin Dahaad fits the bill so far. Are we seeing the return of the series’ biggest serpents, or is Capcom cooking up something new?
