Baskin-Robbins Serves Up Exclusive DLC for Monster Hunter Wilds, If You’re in Japan

Do you like ice cream and Monster Hunter? Who doesn’t! Well, fans of both can get a sweet surprise once the game drops on February 28 — if you’re living in Japan, anyway. Capcom is currently running an exclusive Monster Hunter Wilds collaboration with Baskin-Robbins, serving up three weapon pendants through a special menu. Preorders are already live, having started on February 15. Meanwhile, Hunters from the rest of the world of can only watch from afar.

Starting February 28, Japanese players can order the ‘Monster Hunter Wilds Ice Cream Set’ through the ’31 Mobile Order,’ the ice cream chain’s mobile app. The number ’31’ itself came from the middle part of the Baskin-Robbins logo, which supposedly looks like 3 and 1. The set comes with eight scoops of ice cream, a Felyne-shaped spoon, and a real-life Felyne Chocolate Mint acrylic keychain. To top that off, there’s also a code that unlocks the previously-mentioned three special ice cream-themed pendants!

The set is priced at 2,700 Yen ($17.95) for small scoops and 3,400 Yen ($22.6) for regular scoops. The Baskin-Robbins set comes complete with a packaging that features Arkveld, Monster Hunter Wilds‘s flagship monster. Capcom notes that the DLC may become available through other means later. But there’s no guarantee that it can actually be obtained in later dates; and obviously not outside of Japan anyway.

The Baskin-Robbins promotion runs until March 31, so Japanese Monster Hunter Wilds players have over a month to grab their exclusive pendants. Meanwhile, the rest of us can only hope Capcom finds a way to bring them worldwide.

Unsurprisingly, this is far from the first time Monster Hunter fans outside Japan have missed out on collabs. Over the years, Capcom has done exclusive collaborations with various brands. From Domino’s, Universal Studios Japan, and even convenience stores like 7-Eleven. You can also find themed bars in Tokyo and Osaka, and Capcom is currently running a massive 20th Anniversary Exhibition until April 5th.

Sometimes, being a Monster Hunter fan outside Japan can feel unfair. All we can do now is drown our sorrows in some regular, non-Monster Hunter-themed ice cream jugs.
