TiMi Studio and Capcom are opening the gates again for Monster Hunter Outlanders, with the announcement of its second closed beta test. You can register for the beta over at the official ‘cbt2recruitment’ page. The beta trailer confirms that fan-favorite Odogaron and Radobaan back in the hunt, alongside a teaser for what appears to be a mysterious Elder Dragon. But that’s not all the surprise shown as the game also introduces two new Adventurer hunting partners armed with flashy attacks.
Monster-wise, so far, the lineup is already shaping up to be rather meaty. Thecurrently-known roster includes familiar threats like Anjanath, Diablos, Rathalos, Rathian, Legiana, and now Odogaron. Early-game monsters are also in the mix, such as Great Jagras, Kulu-Ya-Ku, Jyuratudos, Tobi-Kadachi, Pukei-Pukei, and of course, Radobaan.
While we can’t make out much beyond a silhouette, the teased Elder Dragon is described as a ‘mark of the end.’ Looks like a mix between Rathalos and Fatalis, it’s said to appear alongside an aurora and twin suns. The real spotlight, however, is on the new playable support Hunters, also known in-game as Adventurers.
The trailer shows two newcomers. A Dual Blades user rocking full Odogaron gear and claw-shaped weapons, similar to Nergigante’s Ruinous Decimation. And a burly berserker wielding a Switch Axe that looks rather… unique, to say the least. Instead of the axe-swing-dodge-sword-mode-transform combo, this Adventurer wields it aggressively like a Great Sword. The Axe part itself spins around in a way that feels suspiciously close to Charge Blade’s Savage Axe.
Unsurprisingly, in the comments, some players are expecting a new weapon type. Or even the return of Accel Axe from the Monster Hunter Explore mobile game. But judging from how Outlanders handles the Adventurers so far, this is probably just a case of character-specific movesets. With overlapping weapon types already confirmed — including two Dual Blades users — giving each Adventurer their own spin seems like the most obvious approach. Gotta sell those gacha banners, after all.

The pre-registration page for Monster Hunter Outlanders‘ second beta also shows global milestone rewards. Don’t forget to register to grab these freebies once the game’s live.
