As you may or may not know, Monster Hunter Stories, as a series, has always featured several party members, with the majority of them being Riders, as they are the focus of these spin-offs. However, the first two installments allowed you to recruit a Hunter, whose gameplay was a bit different from that of your other companions. With Monster Hunter Stories 3 now out, people are wondering if there is a Hunter party member you can recruit, and we have the answer right here.
Can You Recruit a Hunter as a Party Member in Monster Hunter Stories 3?

Unfortunately, no. There is no Hunter party member. Some players might see this as something bad, especially since the two predecessors allowed you to bring a Hunter into your ranks and have them fight with their weapon instead of alongside a Monstie. In the third installment, however, it’s only you, your Rangers, and Eleanor who will do the fighting.
Now, this doesn’t mean there isn’t some sort of Hunter representation in the game because there is. Just don’t expect him to be playable at all. In this case, we’re talking about Corbin, who appears as soon as you begin Chapter 2 and arrive at the second area. While he isn’t part of your party, he is a pivotal part of the story, as he guides the player and their party to their final goal.
While we think Corbin is an excellent character and quite important for the overarching plot, we’re sad that he never became playable. Corbin and his Palico could have been excellent additions to the party, but sadly, it didn’t happen. We can only hope that a TU adds some sort of gameplay parts to them, or at least gives us some side stories, because this dynamic duo is quite memorable and deserves to shine more.
