Monster Hunter Outlanders brings the popular hunting experience to mobile devices. But not everyone enjoys playing action games on a small screen or with virtual buttons. With that in mind, it’s unsurprising that some players might prefer running the game on PC through an Android emulator. Especially those who are looking for a larger screen and more traditional controls. Unfortunately, getting Monster Hunter Outlanders to work on an emulator isn’t quite that simple.

At the time of writing, Monster Hunter Outlanders does not seem to work on emulators. We tested the game using one of the most popular Android emulators on the market, BlueStacks. Then we tried running two different Android instances, but neither managed to run it properly:
- Android 11: Black screen.
- Android 13 (Beta): Black screen.
Both instances encountered a black screen when attempting to launch the game, preventing us from playing it through BlueStacks. Switching between the two Android versions didn’t resolve the issue either.
Of course, this doesn’t necessarily mean Monster Hunter Outlanders is incompatible with every Android emulator. Other emulators might produce different results, and future game or emulator updates could potentially improve compatibility. For now, though, BlueStacks doesn’t seem to be a viable option for playing the game on PC.
The good news is that Monster Hunter Outlanders supports Bluetooth controllers out of the box if you’re playing on mobile devices. At the very least, this means you can still enjoy hunting with physical buttons without relying entirely on touchscreen controls.
That said, some menu interactions still require you to use the touchscreen, in particular the tutorial segment. But once you’re out of the tutorial, you can navigate the game’s menus using a virtual cursor controlled by the right analogue stick. Simply move the cursor over the option you want and press X for PlayStation or A for an Xbox controller to select it.
While playing Monster Hunter Outlanders on PC isn’t currently an option right now, mobile players aren’t necessarily stuck with touchscreen controls. Pairing a Bluetooth controller with your phone or tablet should make the hunting experience feel much closer to playing a traditional Monster Hunter game.
