Monster Hunter Wilds is filled with plenty of terrifying monsters. But it seems one of the earliest monsters you face in the game is hiding one of the freakiest ecological details. Doshaguma’s concept art uncovers that the bear-like beast has two layers of teeth that give a nasty appearance every time it opens its jaws.
The official X account of Monster Hunter Wilds revealed that Doshaguma’s mouth contains two rows of teeth, similar to those found in some ancient mammals. Capcom apparently wanted the monster to create ‘striking reactions’ when it opens its mouth. “When they open their mouths, it should give the feeling of, ‘Uwaaaah!’,” written in the concept art’s notes.
But that’s not all, as the other notes written in Japanese reveal more disturbing parts about the Alpha of Windward Plains. “Their set of teeth is terribly misaligned,” the note added. Though, despite that, its top and bottom teeth could still touch when closing its mouth and bite its prey really well.

Some might assume that a Doshaguma could develop horns judging from the bumps on its forehead. However, those appear to just be simple lumps.“Their ears are hidden by fur. Rather than horns, they look closer to bumps,” the latter referring to that particular body part.
Once you get past their forehead, you might notice another small but creepy detail of Doshaguma: their eyes. You might think its eyes under the bumps are completely white; turns out that’s not the case. “They have small pupils, not that their eyes are white.”
The Monster Hunter Wilds concept art also reveals why Doshaguma needs such intimidating sets of teeth. Apparently, Capcom took notes from one of the world’s most dangerous social predators. “Like hyenas, they are creatures that crunchily eat the bones of their prey. Their tooth, jaws, and stomachs are strong.”
Capcom definitely didn’t need a reason to make an early game monster such a terrifying creature. Both in terms of the massive damage it can deal and lore details. Still, this kind of dedication toward unseen elements of the fantasy world is what makes the series feel alive.
