How To Get a Canyne Egg in Monster Hunter Stories 3

There are several Monsties a lot of us want to add to our parties, but one of the most beloved ones is the Canyne or Palamute, as some of you may know. This Speed Monstie is excellent when it comes to exploring, but also has several helpful combat skills that can only get better if you do the proper gene transfer. Yet, before you do all that, you’ll have to find one. For that reason, here’s a guide to show you how to get a Canyne Egg in Monster Hunter Stories 3.

Finding the Canyne Egg

Since Canynes are such a beloved species in the series, Monster Hunter Stories 3 hid the Canyne Egg behind one tough fight. However, it’s part of the main story, so you’ll get to it eventually. To find the egg, you need to follow the main quests of Chapter 2 until the point you find the village in the second area, and then get the task to restore the Canyne population.

Eventually, you’ll reach the part where you’ll have to fight against an invasive Arzuros, and the fight isn’t too difficult, as long as you know what to do.

Like other invasive monsters, all you must do is pay attention to the warnings that Rudy and your team give you. For this fight, you just need to wait until the Arzuros runs out of honey supply. The monster will use honey to attract other monsters, but also to perform a powerful attack. You only need to tank this attack once, and after that, the Arzuros’ honey supply will disappear, and all you’ll need to do is attack it until it retreats.

After that’s done, you can enter the den behind the monster and grab your Canyne Egg. Since this is all part of the story, you need to take it back and release the Monstie into the wild. You’ll now be able to find Canyne Eggs in this zone or wherever you decide to perform habitat restoration.

As usual, we recommend reaching rank S with this Monstie, as Canynes are quite powerful in a team, especially since they have several skills that increase your crit chance and damage. But beyond that, you can try a few different gene combinations to create the perfect Canyne.
