Forget Talismans Farm, MH Wilds Update 1.021 Has Players Hunting for a Crash Fix

Monster Hunter Wilds’ latest update, Ver. 1.021, should have been a celebration for end-game grinders. Capcom rolled out the new Glowing Stone item and Appraised Talismans as a reward for 9★ monster quests on August 12. As you might expect, it is the RNG Talisman system, which comes with randomized Armor and Weapon Skills, and even Decoration slots. For Hunters who’ve been itching for more sets variety and even challenging hunts, this is basically the jackpot.

But Instead of cursing Talisman RNG, much of the community is baffled by something else entirely: game crashes. Yes, apparently, Update 1.021 for MH Wilds introduced random crashing that happens when you fast travel between Pop-up Camps. I’ve experienced it with my own eyes and it’s easily replicable, so this is a quite major headache for Capcom. So much for the promise of ‘improving game stability.’

A few die-hard console players claim they’re unaffected and this problem is exclusive to the PC version. Nevertheless, reports are flooding in from PC and PS5 users on social media about freezes and crashes.

@AI69ME took a jab at this widespread issue on X. “Oh, great! Just what I needed—more glitches. Why don’t they just call it Monster Hunter: Crash Edition?”

“Is [Monster Hunter] crashing again?” wrote @yui_ch_k_n in Japanese. “I wanted to do the Talisman gacha, but since I heard they pushed the update forward, it’s no surprise if something is going to break somewhere.”

While most of the MH Wilds Update 1.021 crashes seem tied to fast traveling, some said that it could happen from simply fainting as well.

“Since updated the game on my PS5 today, i fainted 1st to AT Duna & the game crashed. 2nd time was on Tempered 8 star Lagia,” said KurouRaikou annoyed on Reddit. “This is quite unpleasant.”

⚠️ Known Issue ⚠️

We are aware of the following issue being reported in Monster Hunter Wilds on all platforms and are currently working on a fix. Once the fix is complete, we plan to release a patch ‘Ver.1.021.01.00.’

We have confirmed that the game may crash when you faint and…

Thankfully, Capcom has since acknowledged the issue on X via the @MonsterHunterStatus account. It confirmed that the MH Wilds 1.021 update crash affects all platforms and promising a follow-up patch, Ver. 1.021.01.00. Once the fix lands, online sessions will be reset, and players will need to update before hopping back into multiplayer.

Until then, Talisman farming may have to wait. Because right now, no matter how good your build is, it cannot protect you from crashing to desktop.
