Monster Hunter Wilds Player Discovers Cap on Endemic Life, Panic Ensues: ‘The Rare and Elusive Capture Net Main’

Do you always keep the Capture Net ready on your Slinger and hoard every critter you see? You might need a break from that habit. A Monster Hunter Wilds player recently discovered that there’s a hard cap on storing Endemic Life — at 2,000 specimens. Once the limit is reached, the game will threaten to ‘automatically release’ earliest captured creatures. Reddit user Jeanette_ericcson shared this situation online, hoping for a way to manage or manually remove captured Endemics.

“Game is threatening to discard my specimens because I’m getting close to 2,000,” explained Jeanette_ericcson worriedly. “What do I do?”

Unfortunately, currently there doesn’t seem to be a clear way to interact with stored specimens. This led to some hilarious responses from fellow Hunters.

User cda2048 dubbed the thread starter as “the rare and elusive Capture Net main,” highlighting their dedication to catching every tiny they saw. Meanwhile, Great_White_Samurai quipped, “Went from endemic to endangered life.”

MH:Wilds – Game is threatening to discard my specimens because I'm getting close to 2,000… How do i even find the menu to interact/delete the endemic life I've caught?? What do I do?

Wagner710 warned, “You out here causing such ecological disasters, that Alma about to authorize your capture!”

But aside from snarky jokes and remarks, some believe that Capcom will add a feature that lets you display Endemic Life in the future. This speculation isn’t unfounded as Monster Hunter Wilds is getting its first free Title Update in early April. A Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase is also planned to be streamed on March 25, highlighting all content dropping next month.

“I know people keep saying you can’t do anything with them anyway, but I feel very strongly that you can’t do anything with them yet,” commented Rossomak while putting emphasis on ‘yet.’ “It’s likely you will be able to place pets after a future update, or maybe expansion.”

This fun side-mechanic was first introduced in Monster Hunter World, where Hunters can showcase any caught wildlife and fish and turn their houses into mini-zoo. With the problem coming to light, many hope that a proper way to manage captured Endemic Life in Monster Hunter Wilds will be introduced.

For now, we advise to put your Capture Net to rest and capture Endemics wisely. Lest you find yourself unknowingly releasing your rarest catches like the Sandstars.
