How To Get Thistle Needles in Grounded 2 (& How to Use Them)

There are a lot of resources around the map of Grounded 2, but none is more difficult to find than Thistle Needles. These not-so-small resources tend to be hidden in plain sight. Even if you’re walking around the park or riding your faithful Buggy, you might miss the plants that house these materials. For that reason, we’ve put together a guide to help you locate Thistle Needles more easily in Grounded 2, as well as some of the best locations to farm them.

How To Find Thistle Needles in Grounded 2

Like other items, getting Thistle Needles in Grounded 2 is as easy as approaching them and pressing the right button to grab them. But I’m not here to state the obvious. What isn’t evident is the location of these items, which is what I’ll focus on.

While there isn’t a precise farming location like other materials, such as Acorns or Blueberries, you can find a few Thistle plants around the park by locating the iconic purple flower at the top. I’ve located a few of them in the Entrance and Snackbar Front areas, but you’ll be able to find these plants almost everywhere in the park.

When you find one of them, you won’t be able to cut down the whole plant. Instead, you’ll be able to climb it by doing some parkour on the leaves around it. By doing so, you’ll be able to grab a few Thistle Needles on your way up, and then descend so you can bring your loot home.

Again, the easiest way to locate Thistle plants is by finding a tall vantage point and looking for the Thistle flower. You can put up a marker by pressing “X” and entering peep mode.

Recipes That Use Thistle Needs

Thistle Needles are mostly used for Arrows and a few building pieces, such as Acorn Fences. However, the most important ones are the former, as crafting Arrows will let you, in turn, craft even better arrows with elemental effects. So, if you want to go for the Archer archetype in the game, which is the most powerful, as you can just “cheese” many fights by finding a high spot and shooting from above, you should craft as many arrows as possible.

Remember that, similar to other resources, Thistle Needles take a few in-game days to spawn. Fortunately, you can get a good haul each time you find a Thistle plant, with each one having somewhere between 10 and 12 Thistle Needles.

When not playing Monster Hunter, you'll find him in his favorite game ever: FFXIV or trying to add more mods to Project Zomboid.
