How to Get the Tomato Head Gesture in Monster Hunter Wilds

Any Hunter participating in the Festival of Accord: Dreamspell event can join in on this year’s Halloween-themed fun. Starting October 22, the festival introduces new gear, spooky Grand Hub decorations, and the quirky Pumpkin Head gesture. But hidden behind this festive emote lies a secret. Turns out, said gesture hides the Tomato Head easter egg, transforming your Hunter’s pumpkin into a pale, ghostly tomato. Here’s a very simple guide to unlock the Tomato Head gesture in Monster Hunter Wilds.

To unlock this easter egg, simply use the Pumpkin Head gesture repeatedly until your Hunter pulls out a massive pale tomato instead. Your Palico also joins in the fun: instead of wearing a massive carved pumpkin, it will now sport a Physalis fruit. You know, that same fantasy-looking fruit Alma keeps snacking on whenever you take Tasheen’s meal offer?

Once you and your Palico wear the Tomato Head, you will both gain funkier movement animations; a bouncier walk, and a funkier run. It’s sure to give your duo an odd, off-beat charm that stands out even in the busiest of Grand Hub crowds.

How many times do you need to use the Pumpkin Head gesture before it changes to Tomato? That’s the tricky part — the number appears to be completely random.

Our first test took 19 tries, while the second only took around seven attempts. Meanwhile, we saw another Hunter in the Grand Hub finally get it after doing the same gesture 25 or more times. So just keep spamming that gesture, the transformation will trigger eventually. Make sure to put the gesture into the Radial Menu to make spamming it much easier and faster.

The Pumpkin Head may look spooky. But the Sild’s unnatural, colorless tomato is way spookier than even the Halloween icon.
