Where To Find the Optical Disk A in Grounded 2

Some of the most hidden yet most useful items in Grounded 2 are Optical Disks. These little objects hold a lot of ideas and blueprints you can unlock to build structures and other items. However, finding them is not that easy. Some are deep underground, usually guarded by a boss or two, and one of the first you’ll encounter in Grounded 2 is the Optical Disk A. If you want to know the exact location as well as some boss tips, we’ve made a guide to help you reach this Disk.

Optical Disk A Location in Grounded 2

The Optical Disk A is inside the Toxic Anthill, one of the pseudo-dungeons of Grounded 2. Reaching it is easier said than done, as, contrary to other Anthills, this one is full of Ants, Cockroaches, and pesticide. On top of that, there’s a Cockroach Queen at the end, but beating her lets you grab a secret weapon and the aforementioned Disk. So, without further ado, let’s check the easiest way to reach it.

First head, North from the first Ranger Outpost and all the way toward the Picnic Table. However, you won’t reach the Picnic Table. You’ll stop before and enter through the Toxic Anthill – South Entrance.

Once inside, follow the road to the bottom and take the first left. Keep going until you see a donut and a pesticide can. From there, take a right and keep going until you spot a giant cockroach.

Go past the cockroach to the tunnel on the left and follow the tunnel until you encounter the boss room. There, you’ll see the Cockroach Queen, a small room blocked off by mushrooms that has a secret weapon, and a researcher’s body on the right with the Optical Disk A of Grounded 2.

If you only want the Disk, just run past the boss, grab it, and retrace your steps. But, if you want to beat the boss, here’s how you can “cheese” the fight:

  • Run inside the room to grab the Disk and aggro the boss.
  • Return to the boss’s room entrance and wait for the boss to follow you to the next room.
  • Go back to the boss room; the Cockroach Queen will get stuck outside.
  • Grab your bow and start shooting her.
  • Once you deplete the Queen’s HP, her head will fall off, and she’ll revive with just 1/4 of her HP. Continue attacking her until she dies.
  • As an extra tip, bring armor that protects you against Sizzling effects because she can spit acid that will burn you.

After obtaining the Optical Disk A in Grounded 2, you’ll unlock the following ideas/blueprints:

  • Acorn Stairs = Science x1,500
  • Fortified Bases: Science x2,000
  • Ladder: Science x1,000
  • Teeny Terracotta: Science x1,000

Out of all four, the Fortified Bases upgrade is the best, especially since you’ll be facing invasions at this point in the story. If possible, replace all your base structures with fortified ones to give your home an added layer of safety.
