Jin Dahaad Full Monster Guide (Strategies, Loot Table, Craftable Items) for Monster Hunter Wilds

0
By Gabriela Jessica on March 5, 2025 Guides, Monster Hunter Wilds

Jin Dahaad is the biggest monster you will encounter in Monster Hunter Wilds. During the story mission, you will face this dragon while exploring the icy mountains. Although your group only wishes to pass through the area, the monster won’t let you. Now, you must fend off Jin Dahaad’s assault and escape from its clutches. This is easier said than done, as Jin Dahaad is incredibly powerful and even has a lethal attack up its sleeve. The fight against this dragon can be considered a war of attrition, and you need to be prepared lest you get killed.

Monster Hunter Wilds Jin Dahaad Strategy

Jin Dahaad is an ice dragon with plenty of elemental attacks. Before heading into this fight, it’s best to equip gear that can withstand both ice and dragon elements to reduce damage. Unlike the smaller monsters you’ve hunted before, don’t expect to stun this massive beast often, as it is incredibly sturdy and tough.

The most dangerous attack this dragon has is an AoE blast. You’ll know it’s coming when it surrounds itself with thick, towering ice pillars. While it’s gathering energy, you must drop one of the Giant Ice Chunks hanging above and hide behind it. If you fail, you will take massive damage that will either kill you or leave your HP bar in the red.

Melee Strategy

Fighting Jin Dahaad as a melee weapon user in Monster Hunter Wilds is extremely daunting. Its massive size makes it difficult to read its movements. To make matters worse, you need to get up close and personal to deal damage. Focus on targeting the monster’s legs until it eventually topples over. However, watch out for attacks such as foreleg stomps and swings. It may even try to kick you away if you annoy it enough.

Once the beast is down, you’ll want to target either its head or tail. Its head has a 4-star weakness, while its tail has a 3-star weakness. You can also deal extra damage if you manage to break the ice plate protecting the soft spots on its back. This is not an easy feat, though, as you need to deal a significant amount of damage to break this protective shell.

Ranged Strategy

For ranged weapon users, you are somewhat safer than melee weapon users. Since you don’t need to get too close, you can focus on attacking various parts of the dragon. I recommend targeting the ice plates on the monster’s back to reveal its weak points. Besides those, you can also aim for Jin Dahaad’s head, neck, or tail.

It would be wise to bring weapons and ammo that can inflict fire damage, as the dragon is weak against this element. You may also consider using ammo that can inflict Blastblight or Exhaust to debuff Jin Dahaad.

Jin Dahaad Weak Points and Elemental Weaknesses in Monster Hunter Wilds

Jin Dahaad has several weak points that you can exploit. The problem is that they’re mostly protected by its thick ice plates. You will need to break them before you can effectively target these body parts.
