Lala Barina is as beautiful as it is deadly, provided you are not afraid of spiders and don’t mind facing a monster that will paralyze you on the spot. This arachnid-like foe will be the first creature that will have players deal with status effects and erratic moves. While some of this creature’s parts are flimsy, and taking it down shouldn’t be too hard once you get a few hits in, it is still a challenging fight that will require a lot of planning, dodging, and healing. Here, we’ve made an in-depth guide to help you facing Lala Barina in Monster Hunter Wilds, including a strategy, loot table, and more.
Lala Barina Strategy
Lala Barina is an interesting creature in Monster Hunter Wilds, in the sense that its encounter is a bit different than previous ones. Other monsters have clear attack patterns, and due to their bulky limbs, it is easy to see where they’ll hit or what they’ll do. However, Lala Barina attacks gracefully and with a lot of speed, making it hard for any type of hunter to hit it. Still, we have a few tips that will let all players take this monster down, hopefully with ease.
Melee Strategy
Lala Barina will be the bane of many melee hunters. At first, attacking it won’t be hard. As long as you focus on the legs, that should be enough before it enrages. However, once Lala Barina becomes agitated, it will open its tail in the shape of a flower and will start erratically shooting petals in the air. Here’s where things get complicated.
For starters, as a melee hunter, dodging these petals will be difficult. They are quite small and usually take up a big portion of the area, so you need to move around them and then get a few hits in. At the same time, it will jump around the area, making this fight an obstacle course for all melee attackers. Fortunately, there’s one surefire strategy that can help you and stop the paralyzing petals.
During the fight, Lala Barina will sometimes stop to shake its tail as it shoots petals into the air. Some of these petals will not fall in front of the player. Instead, they’ll float away and create a danger zone somewhere near the monster. If you stay next to Lala Barina’s tail while this happens, you can get many hits in to break this body part.
Alternatively, you stay at the monster’s front and attack its claws, which are other weak parts. Doing so will decrease its fighting capabilities and make it easier for you to damage it. The downside is that it’ll still launch its paralyzing petals, so you should decide which area to prioritize first.
Ranged Strategy
Ranged hunters in Monster Hunter Wilds will have an easier time when fighting Lala Barina. Due to its movement and petal attacks, staying far away from Lala Barina is ideal. Yet, that doesn’t mean you’ll be out of the danger zone. As I mentioned above, some of these petals will fly far away, forcing you to change locations. There are two things you can do as a ranged hunter to defeat Lala Barina.
First, bring fire ammo and shoot its tail. This is, by far, the easiest strategy. Lala Barina is weak to fire, and if you’re still on Low Rank, Quematrice should give you the materials to unlock Fire weapons. If not, you can also craft some ammo with this element and set this spider ablaze.
Alternatively, you can try hitting with any ammo that does blunt damage to stun Lala Barina and then shoot its weak part. Lala Barina is susceptible to stun effects, so anything that can stun it will be ideal. If I had to recommend one strategy, the first one works miles better. Fire is super effective against this monster, so if you have the necessary ammo, bring it.
Weak Points and Elemental Weaknesses
Lala Barina’s speed is its greatest strength, so you’ll need to either stop it if it pirouettes around the area or set it on fire. For that, these are the elemental attacks and status effects that work on it:

Spawn Zones and Variants
Lala Barina will spawn in two Monster Hunter Wilds areas: in the Scarlet Forest during Low Rank hunts in its normal variant, and it will start spawning in Wyveria in its Tempered variant only. Despite Lala Barina being one of the iconic monsters in the Scarlet Forest, you’ll never find a Tempered Lala Barina here. If you’re farming this monster, head to Wyveria instead for better rewards. Regardless of the variant you’re fighting, bringing protection against Paralysis is ideal.
