10 Craziest Monster Hunter Crossovers Capcom Has Ever Done, From Anime to Internet Personality

Every Monster Hunter fan is drawn into the game thanks to the intense battles, epic gear, and, of course, slaying massive beasts. But Capcom loves throwing in some surprises, and sometimes, that means collaboration content with some of the wildest franchises in gaming and beyond. Let’s take a look at 10 of the craziest Monster Hunter crossovers ever made — some awesome, some just plain weird.

10. Sailor Moon Palico Costume in Generations Ultimate

Monster Hunter Generations had a magical crossover with one of the most iconic anime series of all time — Sailor Moon! An event quest will reward you with materials to craft special Palico armor set based on Luna, Sailor Moon’s talking cat. Turn your trusty feline companion as the most magical hunting partner ever with Luna’s distinctive crescent moon symbol and dark fur.

9. Fairy Tail Armor and Weapon for Your Palico

In Monster Hunter Generations, you can dress up your Palico — or yourself, if you’re playing Prowler — as Happy from the Fairy Tail anime series. This crossover felt like a natural fit. After all, Fairy Tail creator Hiro Mashima is a huge Monster Hunter fan and even wrote Monster Hunter Orage, an official manga featuring a never-before-seen Elder Dragon.

8. Kamen Rider Collaboration

Monster Hunter sometimes offer a selection of armor that look like they came straight out of mecha and Japanese superhero shows. But in the Monster Hunter Explore mobile game, you can cosplay as the real deal.

A collab with Rider Kick’s toyline introduced armor sets and weapons themed after Kamen Rider Zi-O, Den-O, and Ex-Aid. You could wield a Long Sword, Hammer, Sword & Shield, or even a Heavy Bowgun designed to match each Rider’s aesthetic to boot.

7. Hatsune Miku x Monster Hunter Crossover

To celebrate the MMO spinoff Monster Hunter Frontier’s 10th anniversary, Capcom teamed up with the virtual songstress, Hatsune Miku. Players could unlock a full Miku-themed armor set, complete with her signature cyan twintails.

Even cooler, the event featured a 2017 Snow Miku variant and a Hunting Horn designed like a giant microphone. Slaying monsters while looking like a virtual pop star? Definitely one of the more unique collabs in the series’ history.

6. Monster Hunter x Square Enix Crossovers

Most Monster Hunter crossovers bring in existing characters, but this one was different. Capcom partnered with Square Enix and Final Fantasy artist Tetsuya Nomura for exclusive armor design in 4 Ultimate and Generations.

The result? A ridiculously detailed, gothic-style armor set and a scythe-shaped Long Sword that looked straight out of Kingdom Hearts or modern Final Fantasy. Nomura’s signature over-the-top style made this crossover one of the coolest-looking in the series.

5. Attack on Titan Collaborations

Attack on Titan and Monster Hunter have a lot in common — massive monsters, terrifying encounters, and high-stakes battles. As God intended, Capcom had the bright idea of mashing them together not once, but twice!

First, Monster Hunter Explore introduced an event featuring an Attack on Titan-themed Deviljho, complete with steam-puffing Titan-like skin. Later, Monster Hunter Frontier brought in more themed gear, letting players dress up like the Survey Corps while taking on towering threats.

4. Fate/Apocrypha Collaboration

The Fate series is no stranger to crossovers, and it made its mark in Monster Hunter Frontier with an event based on Fate/Apocrypha. Players could unlock armor sets modeled after Black Rider Astolfo, Ruler Jeanne d’Arc, Black Saber, and Red Saber. Each armor set also came with its respective character’s iconic weapon, making this collab a dream come true for Fate fans.

3. Monster Hunter x Evangelion Crossovers

Yes, unsurprisingly, Neon Genesis Evangelion made its way into Monster Hunter and it was just as wild as you’d expect. Instead of simply giving players themed armor, Capcom went all in and reskinned monsters for Explore and Frontier exclusive quests.

In Explore, Brachydios and Tigrex got an EVA Unit-01 and 02 makeover, while Gore Magala sported patterns based on Zeruel, the Tenth Angel. Frontier got various Evangelion-inspired armor and weapon set, including Shinji, Eva, and Rei in their iconic plugsuits. Seeing these terrifying creatures with Evangelion aesthetics was both bizarre and awesome, making this one of the most unforgettable collabs. For the Japanese fanbase anway as both games were never released worldwide.

2. Metal Gear Series Collaborations

The Metal Gear series has crossed over with a Monster Hunter game on the PSP. First, Monster Hunter Portable 3rd added Naked Snake, The Boss, and Solid Snake Palico armor sets, letting Hunters channel their inner superspy.

On the other side, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker featured a full-on Monster Hunter mission. Here, Big Boss gets to meet a Palico NPC named Trenya and fought Velociprey, Tigrex, and Rathalos with modern arms. A special, original crossover wyvern called Gear Rex was also available to be hunted in the game. Maybe Paul W.S. Anderson should’ve remade this collaborations for the Monster Hunter theatrical movie instead.

1. Mr Beast x Monster Hunter Now Crossover

Sometimes, a crossover is crazy in the worst way possible. Case in point: Monster Hunter Now teaming up with the YouTuber MrBeast. Because when you think of hunting monsters, you obviously think of… internet influencers?

To make this worse. this bizarre collab came at an awkward time. It launched just as allegations of misconduct against MrBeast surfaced. Instead of excitement, the crossover was met with confusion, backlash, and a collective “Oof” and “Who asked for this?” from the community.

From legendary anime pop stars to action heroes, Monster Hunter has done some of the craziest crossovers in gaming history. Will Monster Hunter Wilds and its successors top them one day? Only time will tell.
